Three Week Trip to Europe: Part 1 (Germany)
Sorry it's been so long since we've posted an entry!
On June 22, 2012, Mom, Dad, Amy, and Josh flew from Denver to L.A., where we stayed in a hotel for the night and ate dinner at In-N-Out Burger. The next morning, we flew from L.A. to France in business class, which made the 10-hour flight much more enjoyable. Once in France, we took another flight to Frankfurt, Germany, where Dad had business conferences during that week. We checked into our hotel, the Steigenberger, and even though we were exhausted, we forced ourselves to stay awake by swimming and then going to dinner at the airport with Dad's friend, Peter Belobaba. Afterwards, we returned to the hotel and fell asleep at 8. We stayed up for 29 hours straight, so we were worn out. During the week, Dad attended his conferences and taught classes every day, but we always ate a delicious breakfast at the hotel together before his meetings. Meanwhile, Mom, Josh, and I used the metro system to visit various parts of Frankfurt during the day. One day, we went to the Frankfurt zoo, where our favorite animal was a cute seal that was scratching himself.

The next day, we took the metro downtown and just walked around the city. We saw a couple of cathedrals, visited a building from which we saw a panoramic view of the city, walked on a bridge over a river, and got pretzels for lunch.

That night, we watched the Spain-Portugal soccer game on TV, which was won by Spain. On Thursday, Mom, Josh, and I got a rental car and drove up the Rhein river, stopping to look at multiple beautiful castles. The Rheinstein was one of our favorites, and we took a tour of both that one and the Marksburg castle.

We had a fun week in Germany, during which we ate some great Italian food a couple of times and gelato almost every night. On Friday, we ate breakfast, packed up, and went to the airport to fly to Spain! We were all excited and impatient to see Bob that day. :)

On Wednesday, Dad was free of meetings in the morning, so we all went for a walk in the forest by our hotel.
