Our trip to Brazil
On Monday, December 26th, we left Laramie at 6:00 AM to head to Brazil. On Tuesday, December 27th, we arrived in Sao Paolo. We took a short flight up to Rio de Janeiro, and we checked into our beautiful hotel with a view of Copacabana Beach.
On Wednesday, we went to Cristo el Redentor and to Pao de Azucar. We had the most beautiful views.
The next morning we walked to Ipanema Beach and swam in the ocean. It was gorgeous. We ate Italian food on the way back to the hotel.
That afternoon, we flew for three-and-a-half hours to Natal and landed at night. The rental car company had given our car to someone else (or so they said) so we spent a long time trying to get a car. Isabel and Maxuel met us and helped us. They noticed that our second car had a flat tire. Yikes! We finally left and drove for 45 minutes by lighted displays of Christmas bells, nativity scenes, and wise men until we got to our hotel.
Ponta Negra beach behind our hotel.
We spent time with Isabel, Maxuel, Isadora, and Mateus.
We also spent time with Rita and Julia.
Neto took us to Geni Pabu beach.
We also visited Valtimir and prayed with him because he was going through some challenges. It was a deeply touching experience.
We met some of the missionaries and the mission president and his beautiful family.
We went to Recife to the temple and loved it. Josh and Vital did baptisms. It was a 300 km drive, but we had to take it slow on the freeway because donkeys were crossing at will. The speed bumps were not marked. We only lost one hub cap. Pretty amazing!
We love the beautiful country, and the loving people, and the food wasn't bad either. Amy and Josh ate tapioca with about six little fishes inside. The acai was delicious. Chocolate pizza at Reis Magos was incredible.
