Christmas

This year for Christmas break, Carolyn, Kip, and Lainey came to visit. We have had a lot of fun. On Christmas day, Maria, Clark, Will, and Rosie invited us to their house to eat brunch after opening our presents. She made delicious crepes with nutella, bananas or caramel apple filling inside. YUM!! Our Christmas traditions are to go (on Christmas Eve) looking at all the Christmas lights around town, then we act out the nativity story. We all dress up with towels on our heads and wear robes for that. Then, we sing our favorite Christmas hymns. Then, while "Santa" stuffs the stockings and wraps gifts, the kids go downstairs with their sleeping bags and treats and have a slumber party! We played games called Oink, Oink, Catch Phrase, and Truth or Dare. We made a yummy dip, blueberry muffins, Hawaiian Punch, puppy chow, and fruit snacks for our treats. Then, we wake up in the morning and open presents. We had a blast! One day during the break, we went to see The Tale of Desperaux, and another day we went shopping at Cheyenne, ate delicious food at Olive Garden, then had dessert at Cold Stone!! Just yesterday, we went ice skating and it was very fun, although our ankles now hurt. :) It's been a fun Christmas break.

We took a family picture after brunch at Maria and Clark's, because everyone was there, which doesn't happen too often. This is all of us:
One day, we ate out at Corona Village, a great Mexican restaurant. Lainey loved the salsa and chips they give you to eat while you wait for your main dish. Afterwards, the spice got to her and she wanted lots of water. :) This is her enjoying the salsa:


We had a wonderful Christmas break!!

I can't believe Lainey ate the salsa! That is spicy stuff! It WAS a great Christmas! It was so nice to have all of us together.

On January 6th, I got braces from my orthodontist, Dr. Edwards. He said I will be wearing them for about 3 years. My teeth were very sore for the first few days, and all I could eat was stuff like yogurt, soup and other soft food. Trip to West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia

First we visited with the Holderness family. So fun! Yes, there may have been donuts and Italian food. Next we drove to Baltimore and saw Rob's wonderful apartment -- Next we drove to Christiansburg, Virginia, for a couple of days at Virginia Tech with Laura and Andrew -- Om our last day, we hiked to Cascade Fall. Yellowstone & Teton

 Mom and I went up to the northwest corner of our beautiful state of Wyoming.  First, we stopped overnight in Grand Teton Natl Park .   it was a very short cabin (and an original settler's one) it was a little smoky. Next we drove to Mammoth Hot Springs in the NW corner of Yellowstone NP. we had a ton of elk right in front of our cabin! Buffalo everywhere in Lamar Valley, where a few of you went as 4th graders. The bull elk comes into town....ready to fight for his mating ritual Next we went on the BearTooth Highway, which reaches nearly 11, 000 feet and usually has mountain goats. Next we headed down to Old Faithful and the Geyser basin.  it was truly amazing! one of our favorites--Sapphire pool! Some of you may remember Riverside Geyser Good Old Faithful....erupts every 90 minutes, but only lasts about 3-5 minutes a new find--Castle Geyser--it went off for 20-25 minutes! our cabin at Old Faithful Lodge Our last stop was in the Canyon and Falls area ....
