Return to Colombia after almost 40 years
First, we went to Bogota to visit an old convert (Monica de Gonzalez) and an old companion (Christian Pico). Here we are with our spouses in front of the Bogota Temple.
This is a picture of the Temple President's apartment (lower left) where we stayed, along with temple worker apartments (upper left) and patron housing (right). Mom and i are seriously thinking about serving a 6 month mission here after we retire and before Josh gets home.Mom in front of the Temple's front door.
An amazing store full of a wide variety of fresh fruits...perfect for breakfast each morning!
Next, we flew up to Medellin to see Rob. Here was the drug sniffing dog at the entrance of our hotel :)
One of the crazy buses that i remember so well.
We happened to arrive the weekend of the festival of flowers. These "silletas" are carried on the back of poor old guys (silleteros) and they are incredibly beautiful.
The apartment i lived in (yellow bldg on right) in Fall 1979.
Mom and Rob on his balcony.
Jugo de mora--one that i loved but had forgotten about due to the plethora of varieties of jugos found in Colombia.
Mom and i out front of the first chapel in Medellin. I was there when it was dedicated in Feb. 1980.
The old baptismal font where i baptized several folks.
Bob and i drinking my favorite gaseosa (Postobon Colombiana y Uva)
More silleteros!
All in all it was such a fantastic trip and i want to thank Rob for deciding to do a 1 month medical rotation there, so i had a great excuse to go back and re-live so many wonderful memories of a people and land that i love!
