as you can see from the picture,we went to carthage jail.This window brings back the sad memory of where joseph was killed, along with his brother hyrum.We saw the hole where hyrum was hit.First the four prisoners were in an upper level cell, where a family of seven kids and a mother and father were taking care of the jailers. Their cell upstairs got to 112 degrees, so they were moved downstairs. Their second cell had open windows where the four prisoners could easily be shot. For their safety, the parents gave up their upstairs bedroom and gave it to the prisoners. This was the room where four prisoners became two. Before that, joseph prophesied that Willard Richards would not be hit once, and it came true.
Dad and Mom were able to do some temple work in the Nauvoo Temple, and that night we saw the Nauvoo pageant. We loved Nauvoo; we went to the bakery, the Fudge Factory that has delicious fudge, the gunshop, the the office of land and records (Dad has 4 ancestors who were in Nauvoo, and Mom has her ancestor, Charles Shumway -- we discovered that Jonathan Pugmire and Charles Shumway served in the same quorum of seventy), the red brick store, the mansion house, and lots more. We walked down Parley Street and thought about the pioneers. Parley Street was one of Mom's favorite memories. We are so grateful for their sacrifices!
